Imagine you were dropped into a foreign land, or a different planet, with a paint brush and sketch pad and everything organised for two weeks, including superb food and gorgeous accomodation, accompanied by a highly respected water colourist!

It's unlikely that you would have a much greater sense of being a 'stranger in a strange land' as you will on this journey.

What you will witness in India will be colours that blow your mind, shapes that define a unique landscape and an intensity of life that infiltrates how you perceive things.

The journey starts in Delhi where you stay in a renovated haveli in the old quarter. Then you head west to Rajasthan. Over the five days in the Golden City of Jaisalmer you will luxuriate in imagery, before doing some more luxuriating in the Blue City of Jodhpur, before flying onto the Holy City of Varanasi, one of the worlds' visual and cultural treasures.

It's good that we have a calm artist to guide you in Nishikant Palande. He is accomplished and learned, but he also understands that great images come from being absorbed in a place. His peaceful presence will be shaken up a little by the presence of dynamic Dr Arunita Banerjee, who will add cultural interpretation and creative support.

If this journey was a painter's palette, it would be full of every colour and shade and nuanced texture on earth.

Nishikant is the founder of ‘ThoughtLine Design Studio’. He graduated from Sir J. J. School of Applied Art, Mumbai, and has won a host of awards at Asia Pacific Adfest, Cannes Lions 2011 and the Goafest.

With a specialization in Illustration and Designing, his work portrays the perfect fusion of knowledge and modern Indian style.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS The Story Hunters is a moderately active program with some walking required in Varanasi and Jaisalmer. Apart form that, some conversations with different Indian people need guidance from participants to avoid culturally inappropriate questions. As a general rule, questions will be asked at the conclusion of sessions and at the discretion of the facilitator.
